Qld:Police crackdown on New Year's Eve misbehaviour
Over three hundred police will be patrolling areas popular with Brisbane's partygoers
this New Year's Eve .. in an effort to keep things from getting too out of control.
The police turnout will be strongest in Southbank .. Fortitude Valley and the CBD.
Police are asking revellers to stay in groups .. to keep away from dark and isolated
areas where they may be at risk .. to use public transport or taxis and not to drink and
drive.
In Brisbane .. extra bus .. train and ferry services will run until the early hours
of New Year's Day.
On the Gold Coast .. police are warning residents and visitors not to use illegal fireworks
as part of their celebrations.
